Layout Wiring for New Addition
The owner had just completed the initial construction and track work and feeder wires for an extension to the original layout. In addition, the owner had just acquired a DCC system. He wanted the new addition wired, and the entire layout converted to DCC. In addition, he wanted wiring minimized so that the layout could be disassembled into four sections at a later date. DCC by Design developed the DCC wiring system to minimize the connections between the modules and ensure simple disconnects at each of the sections that make up the layout. The effort was to design to minimize the connections between the modules. In addition the design used as much of the previously purchased supplies as possible. The last effort was to connect the original layout wiring to the new layout. |

Follow on work has been to convert to NCE Power Cab system and trouble-shoot mobile decoder installation.
"DCC by Design installed an NCE DCC system on my N Scale layout last year. Scott worked with me closely to design the wiring that would work for me, helped acquire the equipment and did a clean, efficient installation. Since that time DCC by Design has worked with me when I needed assistance and Scott was always willing to answer emails or telephone calls. Whenever I need additional installations I will always turn to DCC by Design."
This picture shows the basic sketch of the bus wiring for the layout extension and how it was interfaced with the original layout. Since the layout does not use block detection, the wiring could be simplified to bus wires that ran within the track work of that module.
