Whether or not you have chosen DCC by Design to development the DCC system for your layout, we can configure and customize the DCC components you need for installation on your layout. We mount the components, wire the panels, install the connectors, and test the wire of the panel. Once the wiring is complete, the panels labeled for installation, then shipped to your home.

Our basic assembly package includes:
  • Mounting panel on tempered hardboard (masonite) or pegboard
  • Wiring the components and installing terminal strips for connection to the layout
  • Testing the wiring for good connections
  • Programming address of the components
  • Labeling the panel for installation
Optional features are:
  • Use different wire and connection standards
  • Additional programming configuration (other than address)
  • For layouts in Washington DC metro area, home installation is also available.

Power & Occupancy Panels

A recent DCC by Design project was to assemble the track power and block detection panels for an HO scale Layout using Digitrax components. In addition, there were some reversing sections to address.

The photographs at right show the resulting panels. Each panel has a Digitrax booster, a PM42 for circuit breaker protection and auto reversing, and a BDL168 for occupancy detection.

 
Occupancy & Transponding Panel

Another project was to assemble the track occupancy and transponding1 panel for an N scale Layout. The requirements were:
1. track detection on all mainline blocks, and Yard Arrival/Departure track to support dispatcher operations.
2. Transponding on key blocks to support train identification and tracking for dispatcher.
3. Transponding configuration to support SurroundTraxx system2 when it becomes available.

Other items specified where wire colors and wire connection types.

2. SurroundTraxx is a Throttle Up (now SoundTraxx) trademark product in development.

This picture show a Digitrax Occupancy Detection and Transponding Panel. It includes a Digitrax BDL168 occupancy detectors and two RX4 transponding detectors. The panel is fully wired and configured. Labels were not requested by this customer.
