Whether or not you have chosen DCC by Design to develop the DCC system for your layout, we can provide and install the decoders for your locomotives. We offer Digitrax, SoundTraxx, and TCS decoders. We can also install owner provided decoders1.
In addition to installing decoders in your locomotives, we also will perform testing and adjustments3 to make sure your locomotive works as it should. Here is our current price list, please note that these prices are for labor only. Once the installation is complete, we ship the locomotive to your home.
Our decoder installation includes:
- Decoder installation.
- Programming addess to locomotive road number.
- Light replacement for wired installations
- Lighting control of forward and reverse headlights
- Testing and adjustment of locomotive
- Return shipping via USPS Priority Mail

Notes:
1. MRC decoders have not proven very reliable. We will only install these decoders, even if owner provided, on a case-by-case basis.
2. Brass locomotives are extra.
3. If upon receipt of your locomotive, we feel the unit doesn't work properly to justify upgrade to DCC, you will be notified via email and recommendations, with estimate, will be provided.
4. Locomotives requiring frame milling provided are estimated individually.
